Don't Sacrifice Quality When Buying Cheap Drum Sets
Cheap drum sets can be found in a variety of different piece settings, styles and colors to suit any skill level or taste. In fact, many experienced drummers find cheap drum sets online rather than pay full retail for a brand new kit. Cheap drum sets are available from all top manufacturers such as Tama, Pearl, Yamaha, Slingerland, Ludwig and all others. Any experienced drummer will tell you that more often than not; used drum sets will also be cheap drum sets; and may sometimes even sound better than brand new sets because they are already seasoned and probably even tuned.
When searching for a cheap drum set it's very possible to stick to well known brand names as you must keep in mind that the term 'cheap' that is referenced here is referring to price; not quality. You don't need to sacrifice quality because you have a limited budget and therefore have a need to find an inexpensive drum set.
A great source for finding a cheap drum kit is eBay. I have personally purchased 2 cheap drum sets from sellers on eBay and believe I received excellent value for my money. The first set was a brand new 7 piece kit (I forget the Make, but it wasn't a top brand name) and the second was a used 5 piece Pacific set (by DW). Both ran between $350.00 - $400.00 including shipping and I was very happy with the sound quality.
Often; cheap drum sets which are not The A+ Top Brand Names such as the brands mentioned above are priced low because they may include cheap (referring to quality here) :-) cymbals or hardware that are really only included so the seller can say it is a complete set. This is fine really; as as you can pick up a cheap drum set to get the feel of the kit or the hang of playing, and then replace the generic cymbals and/or hardware as your budget allows. The drums themselves, may be great quality but are sold cheap due to the poor quality of cymbals or accessories. This isn't always the case, but it may be something you should keep in mind.
One of the main things to look out for when looking for a cheap drum set is kind of obvious but shouldn't be taken for granted. Any kind of warp will obviously take from the sound quality. This is usually only a concern when buying a used drum set; mainly because you don't really know where the drums may have been stored or how they have been treated.
It is very easy to be able to find cheap drum sets for sale; you only need to use common sense, shop around, and don't be afraid to ask questions.
